Researchers at the Scripps Clinic in San Diego,
California reported that test subjects who ate half a grapefruit or drank 8
ounces of fresh, unsweetened grapefruit juice 3 times a day without
changing any other element of their diet, lost on average 4 extra pounds
in 12 weeks. Some even lost more than 10 pounds and this is without
dieting! The reason why is that grapefruit drastically lowers your levels
of the fat-promoting hormone insulin, allowing your body to burn more
fat throughout the day.

There is some merit to this but it's not what people think. As I see it, there are two chief benefits:

1.) Grapefruit is a known diuretic. Yes it's a carb and enough of the juice will INCREASE insulin release - but it will remove more than it's weight in water and thus, pounds off the scale. People like this and it motivates them. You also get REAL familiar with where all the bathrooms are in your favorite haunts like, right quick...

2.) Narginin contained in the peels/flowers and to a lesser extent in the juice will intensify/prolong the effects of many medications, including thermogenics like E/C. It's for this reason you see warnings in Rx drugs such as certain heart related medications not to co-ingest with GF juice.

Not placebo at all.

My point is, it's not TRUE fat loss. They're measuring weight loss.... which is mostly water. I rather like GF juice for the narginin content as a means of jacking up the effects of E/C and other stims.

I use it to prolong the effect of caffeine and or my E/C

I'm thinking of adding some grapefruit to my diet but in all honesty if it's just a diuretic effect and extra water loss and doesnt actually promote FAT loss then I may as well save the couple dollars......

there is chemical in Grapefruit call narginin

here is what Wiki says
Ingestion of naringin and related flavonoids can also affect the intestinal absorption of certain drugs, leading to either an increase or decrease in circulating drug levels.

Taken with a stim, it boosts the effect

hank that's interesting, how long do your stimulants last when you've had grapefruit juice as opposed to not?

Hank - in the case of EC or YC stacks, I've heard that Tyrosine works to elongate the effects; and the old aspirin thing but I think that was debunked?

Anyways, interesting information i just came across. A few folks I know have been chattin about the Scivation diet recently, so I went and found the book online (its free on their website) and page 11 they describe this naringin thing really well:
