Post workout nutrition during famine phase

Post by jman2003 »

I was just wondering if we should still have a high protein and high carb shake after our workout during the famine?
Thanks

No, despite the popularity of such.

You need to think about the goal of Famine; deplete muscle substrate and send an "alarm" signal to the brain/body. If you're replenishing muscle glycogen/amino acids, you're working against what we're trying to accomplish.

I know it sounds odd, but trust me and the results you see here. Method to the madness and the rebound is very much worth it!

A small amount of fruit/water pre and a big post workout meal about an hour later would suffice. Ideally, you're doing this later during the day.

I don't know about you but I can't sleep on an empty stomach!
