odd question

Hey guys,

I got this protein called prota-lyn when it was on promotion, most reviews are pretty good, but I wanted to know for myself...

So a few weeks ago, prior to getting BP, I did a fairly basic routine using only ON Whey and made pretty standard gains. I then follwed the same diet and training the next week except using protalyn instead of ON and my gains were non-existent.

I still have a tub of the stuff left, and I'm considering using it but not counting the protein towards my daily needs... anyone know if there is a way to truly determine whether or not it is in fact a decent source of protein?

We ran a short, small local trial with it a year or so ago and found it to be horrible in regards to mixability. The stuff simply won't dissolve into suspension.

The taste is not good, and the texture/mouth feel is almost unpleasant (we were using natural/unflavored).

That said, it does tout a legit high absorption rate, but not much past a properly processed whey. The down side is that it loses so much in the way of immune factors, much like with a straight isolate.

I think you'll be fine to use it and that your lack of gains that week is likely due to some other factor. Not giving it a ringing endorsement, obviously, but you could do worse as far as protein score/absorption.

Yeah, you're bang on about the texture and mixability and the taste can take a while to get used to. It was more the quality of protein that concerned me, but if you say that is not a problem, your assurance is good enough for me.

Thanks!

I also stocked up on protalyn, because of the promotion. Not a huge fan of the stupid residue remaining on the shaker. Probably the worst part for me of the entire protein as it is hard to clean sometimes. And the taste was decent with milk.

I did get a sample of this stuff.

It is indeed "different". Whether that be good or bad for you is the question. AskMass's analysis is the best/most comprehensive I've seen to date.
