SHOOT, my answer was going to be less than one second! But YEAH! if not for the special programming of sorts, and the fact that we can reproduce, etc..., we are little more than electrochemical robots. The heart and other muscles are controled by electricity and nerves are like wires. They even have myelin which is an insulator. If the myelin fails, you can get M/D, or seizures. Basically a short circuit. Even the idea about antioxidants relates! If that happens to a computer, all sorts of things can go wrong. and electricity can triiger memories, stop the heart, or restart the heart.
If we could somehow splice things, get the organic cells to bond with other materials, and have things run smoothly, most problems could EASILY be fixed, whether brain damage, paralysis, kidney damage, blindness, etc.... I left deafness out because they ALREADY have a near cure for that! The cochlear implant, if you get enough resolution, apparently allows you to do pretty well.

I have a friend with a cochlear implant!
He was born totally deaf, and now he can hear pretty well and have conversations (without signing/lip reading) and what not! It's pretty amazing...
I'm jealous he can plug music right into his head, though...

Apply a mixture of turmeric powder and pineapple juice on dark circles,
Apply cold cream 15 minutes before going to bed,
Sleep for at least 8 hours in a day...
