So I'm a little cncerned by something. Today is my last scheduled day of famine and my heart rate this morning was up only 1bpm from the first day. What should I do.

This has convinced me to extend my feast for another day. I wasn't able to get in workout #3 today, so I'll do that tomorrow. I've kept protein low but I think one more day wouldclear all my doubt that I've sufficiently "alarmed" my body.nigh70wl wrote:don't worry too much about your resting heart rate, I don't even bother checking it for Famine, varies too much for me for it to really mean anything. if you're keeping your protein intake at as close to zero as you can, keeping your calories very low, along with hitting the weights as hard as you can, you're doing it right; don't sweat the heart rate.
you'll know it if your body is breaking down muscle - you won't recover from the workouts, you'll be losing weight rapidly, and by the time you get to the end of the third Famine workout, you'll probably be down to bodyweight squats. hit it hard and you'll reap the rewards once you start Feast.
I did extend it one day and got confirmation from my workout that I had put my body in alarm state as all my weights were way down. Had day of Feast yesterday, started ebol. Was nice to eat some protein!RobRegish wrote:I'd be careful on extending Famine, if that's what you're referencing. Just b/c one diagnostic isn't there, shouldn't be cause for alarm.
ALWAYS play it safe. If it was me (the guy who wrote the book!), I'd transition to Feast.
Just my $0.02...
Why worry about that? I was up 12 lbs from pre-famine weight at one point to 226, and ended up at 209 on the first day of cruise, which was 5 pounds under my pre-famine weight...all the fat and then some came off by the end of feast but the muscle just kept piling up...I put an INCH on my arms in under 3 months and almost 1.5 inches on my chest...TheSugarfoot wrote:just in case anyone was following, I am going to postpone finishing the blueprint. I ot a few workouts into Feast, but I'm in the busy season with my ob and was just putting on too much fat. I'm going to focus on cutting over the next month or two and maybe take it from there.
This feeling is understandable, but please know it's a VERY temporary condition. The fix is easy too, simply dial back the cals a bit on training day and/or drop them a bit on non-training days.TheSugarfoot wrote:just in case anyone was following, I am going to postpone finishing the blueprint. No problem man! Sometimes, a reality check is all that's needed to get back on the RIGHT track!TheSugarfoot wrote:thanks for chiming in guys but to be honest my bodyfat was too high from the start and I feel like the program will work a bit better for me when I'm in a better positon to do a real recomp.
