KatZilla's 2nd Run

Post by KatZilla »

Hello again everyone! I'm back again for my 2nd run of the BP. Unfortunately this one may be updated even less than my first, thanks to the added obligations of school and wrestling practice. Obviously, I'll update with the important stuff (stats, numbers, etc.) My overall goal this time around is basically a recomp, leaning more toward losing fat and building endurance rather than strength.

I've kind of decided to abbreviate my famine to 4 days, which started on Friday (I spent about a week before that eating less than maintenance, so hopefully that'll make up for it). I'm in a bit of a hurry on this run, as my wrestling season starts at the very beginning of November. Wrestling is also accountable for my goals; or else I'd just be doing another bulk-type run. I'll start logging my weight and calories here pretty soon, and I plan to follow the caloric spiral outlined in the BP.

Anyway, I'll be back in a couple days to update with how my first days of Feast start to go! Wish me luck.

Much luck Kat. Fantastic first run too..

Now that you've seen it once, it's just a matter of fine tuning. And fine tune it you will. If you need help, right here for you..

I may be jumping into this run a little too fast, but I definitely realized on my last run that I benefit from more frequent workouts. I also really need to get this going in order to have everything ready for wrestling season. I went ahead and got my BP Max today: I hit 195 o.0 That was definitely a shock for me. New PR at the very beginning of my Feast phase.

A second thing that I'd like to point out: Rob told me about how Hank liked the Black Cats as a preworkout. I ordered some last week. On Saturday morning, I took one about an hour before wrestling, on an empty stomach. I really didn't feel anything; no more or less energized than I would have been. Today however, I upped it to two, and I had eaten just 3 hours earlier. Keep in mind, for me, stimulants take a notoriously long time to kick in. I wait about 45 minutes to go lift. During my workout and running on the treadmills, I felt pretty normal, and actually pretty tired after running. However... I come home, plop down into my chair, and realize there is no way I can sit still. Go outside to run off some energy.

My legs were screaming but I could. Not. Stop. Ran another few miles before my mom called and said dinner was ready, which is basically the only reason I came home. I feel kind of weird, but I wasn't (and I'm still not) jittery at all, no "upside-down" feeling in my stomach. Right now, my mind is still feeling it, I feel wide awake, but my legs are almost immobile. I really wish I had time to lift in the mornings, since I'm kind of worried its gonna be hard to go to sleep tonight... a big issue since I have to wake up at 5:30am. Hopefully my GammaGH and ZMA will pull through for me. To summarize this... Black Cats are fairly awesome, just make sure to time them right, and maybe save them for weekends if you workout later.

ANYWAY back on topic. I've considered trying the GLP#2 or even the Russian Program, but since I'll only have about a month, it looks like I'll be sticking with GLP#1 for this run. If I tried the others, I'd have very few rest days. I'll definitely be resting until at least this weekend after my running today, since I plan to max my squat and DL next. Wish me luck getting out of bed tomorrow morning!

New PR!

Nice job man. 2nd time around with same GLP MAY be problematic. Depends upon how long its been since the body has last "seen" it. Time will tell.

Great work!

Hmm... I guess I really have about 5 weeks for Feast. I would prefer to be done with cruise by the very beginning of November. If I end Feast 5 weeks from today, I'll transition to cruise on Oct 21st, which should give me just enough time. The Russian seems a little out of the question, but given my time constraints, how do you feel about GLP2? If I'm doing the upper body/lower body split outlined in the BP (doing my GLP sets, and then doing EDT blocks), that comes out to 28 total workouts over 35 days. I would have, at the very least, one rest day between any two upper or lower body workouts, and would usually have two days.

It would generally work out to:
Day 1: Upper body
Day 2: Lower body
Day 3: Rest
Day 4: Upper body
...And so on. But if I completely follow this, it still puts me a week over my goal of Oct. 21st

So there'd probably be two days between each upper or lower workout. Worst case scenario, Day 3 would be another upper day, so would Day 2 have counted as a rest day for my upper body? If you feel it would end up being too detrimental to lift that frequently, I might just have to extend Feast, and try and cut down on Cruise a little, maybe even run in to the season a little bit, but I would really prefer to avoid that. Perhaps working out that frequently would just help me achieve my goal of burning fat?

Thanks again for the help!

Why don't you go for it on GLP II and extend if necessary. I think, if nothinge else.. it'll give you exposure to another loading pattern to see how your body handles it.

The guys who have run it have been pleasantly surprised. Check in with Pushingthelimit. He ran it during his squat cycles and did GREAT with it!

GLPII it is, then! Can't wait to get started. I think either tomorrow or Saturday I'll get my squat max done, and then I'll jump right in early next week.

Matched PR on squats today (technically yesterday now): 325! Probably starting my first Bench day of GLPII tomorrow or Monday.

Had a nice long upper body workout today to start off my Feast phase. Everything went great, had an awesome workout, powered through all of my sets and didn't miss a single rep. Fairly exhausted now, so I'm gonna go down some protein :P

Since my last update, I've completed my first leg workout of GLP2, taken a rest day, and then got done with the 2nd upper body workout today. The leg workout was KILLER. I hit every rep, but just barely. Thanks to some minor knee injuries from wrestling, I'm starting to consider looking around for some joint-support supps. (any recommendations?) It's not too bad now, but once I really start running, I'm worried that my knees won't allow me to lift heavy enough to have as much success on this run. We'll see how things go, I guess.

Upper body however is doing as great as ever. My bench press sets today almost seemed underwhelming, but it looks like my next upper body workout should be more challenging :)

Awesome Kat. Posted this on pinkmagic.com but here it is again for anyone with these types of injuries:

Cissus/SuperCissusRx

FANTASTIC IMO and a welcome surprise. Haven't been that happy about how well a supp worked in a LONG time..
