Supplements Question

Post by PAR1 »

Hello all,

I'm new here and this is actually me first post.
I've been weight training my entire life but now that I'm 40ish I've put on weight and finding it really difficult to drop the pounds. I joined this forum get some advice on:
a) recommended supplements
b) cardo/workout recommendations for old fogies like me :)

Also, I just purchased the Blueprint ebook today.

Thanks in advanced for your help

Paul

Welcome Par and lots of help here. Right there with you at age 40 :)

Largely comes down to diet and cardio + the weights of course.

Suggest alternating 100% of maintenance calories on training days with 70% of maintenance on non training days. Doing so mitigates the drop in basal meabolic rate seen with a "fixed" caloric intake.

For cardio, I much prefer the High Intensity Interval Training vs. low intensity steady state. Ideally, this is done in a fasted state. You burn the same # of calories BUT, a higher % come from fat due to blood glucose being low...

Hope that helps..

We will get to supps in a bit (look into Burn It Up!) but I don't like to over-sell such things. Training/diet are the bedrocks.

That's just the truth.
