Replacing veggie shake with V8

I was reading through BP and it mentioned that it was ok to use the low sodium v8 juice as a replacement for a detox shake that's homemade

would it be preferable to make one myself? or would either work?

And with adequate water consumption(i usually consume 8+ L/day), would it be ok to not get the low sodium one?

Making your own (live jucing) is always preferred.

Adequate hydration is just that...making sure you don't dehydrate during this time. The reason I recommend low sodium V8 during this time is that if you follow that route... it's a LOT of V8. And I would never recommend "sodium loading" to anyone for health reasons!

the lack of a juicer is the real problem. i'll see what i can do about getting one though.

Would adding stevia or sucralose (splenda, i would prefer this to stevia but ill do either) to the mix be a problem?

Also, my goal on this short run of BP im gonna do (i leave for vacation in 4 weeks) is a recomp. Should i just lower the overall calories during feast? or should i cycle them? like
day1-20xbw
day2-15xbw
day3-10x
day4-10x
day5-15x
day6-20x

would something like that work for fat loss? or is that too many calories?

forgive me if i'm posting in the wrong section :P

Stevia is preferred as it is alkalizing. Sucralose I'm not sure of...

Your recomp calories would be better structured as follows:

100% of maintenance on training days
70% of maintenance on non-training days

Doing so mitigates any down regulation in metabolism seen with a "fixed" caloric intake. You should also concentrate MOST of those calories on workout days peri-workout...right where they'll benefit you most!

Ok, thus i would still reap some benefits in terms of muscle gain!

Should i have any days where i have more than maintenance calories?

Should i stick to 8xBW for calories during famine? Would less be beneficial to a cut? or is it necessary to not lose TOO much muscle?

Stick with BWX8. Provided you don't lose more than 1lb/day you should be fine..

IMO the V8 is a distant 2nd choice, because it's cooked and has preservatives to give it a very long shelf life.

I'm not saying it's unhealthy and I'll often grab a Spicy V8 when on the road, but the live enzymes gained from fresh juicing are absolutely unmatched.

Start a savings fund and get a Champion juicer. You'll never regret it and it will last you a lifetime. Skip the $70 ones at Target, etc., as they will only last you half a year of real juicing and wind up being money down the drain that could have gone towards a Champion (and yes, I speak from experience, lol).

Alright i will do that then. I'm not gonna jump straight into buying one as i haven't even run the program yet :P

I'll just use the V8 the first time through, and then let my gains dictate my spending from there. I think that is fair, right? ;)

So my plan is to use the warrior diet approach laid out in the BP e-book. I do however plan to consume half a grapefruit in the morning/before sleep if that's ok with the system?

Went shopping today and got some basics:

1. Lechitin
2. Greens Powder
3. Detox Tea

If im using the warrior diet and drinking the detox tea 2x daily, I still want the Veggie juice so long as it fits my calories, right?

Yes absolutely.

Do ease into the Warrior if you haven't tried it before. It's a real exercise in mental/phsysical toughness. Ease into it meaning try fasting until noon the first day, 1PM the next, 2PM the following day etc. until running it out the 5th day.

It IS incredibly effective at maximizing every little nutrient you put into your body. You will have periods where you're very hungry and periods where you feel euphoric, if you can believe that.

It is incredibly interesting and was a real eye opener to me. I spent about 5-6 years on it and 1.) It works and 2.) It's damn covenient.

When using protein etc and higher calories is blows the lid off of the conventional BB wisdom that your muscles will dissapear if you don't eat every 2-3 hours.

its still ok to do it if i consume the v8 throughout the day and have some grapefruit in the morning/at night though, right?
