hey guys, i normally lurk, but i thought that you might all find this granola bar recipe useful.
the idea was to have a snack/breakfast bar that was high in healthy fats, protein, and good carbs. it's based on a grand hyatt recipe, then tweaked to get the numbers right.
granola bar:
item weight (grams)
caster sugar 200
wholemeal flour 114
protein powder 120
baking powder 17
oats 180
eggs 228
veg oil 113
peanut butter 150
mixed nuts 430
dried fruit 300
all weights are in grams...rob's favorite
it makes 10 serves at:
protein 30.2
carbs 67.63
fat 46.6
calories: 811.
I recommend cooking it at: 160 degrees celsius for 20 - 30 minutes (depends how moist you like it. i normally give it 20 - 25 minutes, leave it in one big piece overnight, and then cut into pieces in the morning.
i think 20 grams here or there isn't going to
change things drastically.
this is by no means a finished product (i'll constantly be playing with the numbers), but it's close to perfect. having said that, if you want to play with the nuts/fruit content, or change the recipe by 20 grams here or there, it should still work out ok.
If anyone wants, i can take a picture of the finished product and put it up here.
granola bar - ideal for feast
