Supplements during famine

Post by bigla2004 »

Sorry guys I'm new,

I would assume no supplements during the famine (IE preworkout, creatine, bcaas) due to the state we are trying to reach. I'm starting famine workout #1 today and am going to error on the cautious side and not take any, but I was wondering.

Correct assumption . Stims alone are okay though

I'm a minimalist here, with a multi, fish oil and perhaps a greens supp if not using one of the "live" fruit/veggie drinks recommend in the stickes that Mixelflick character put together to make this easy :)

Recall the goal of Famine: Deplete muscle substrate. You can't do that if your pre-workouts are loaded with Creatine, Beta alanine etc.

Stims? A strong cup of Joe is a logical starting point. From there, everything up to E/C is fair game IF you get Dr's clearance and IF you don't have any pre-existing conditions.

You like mixed nuts? Me too. Can eat them until the cows come home. Have a friend who ate a small amount by accident once. Almost died from an allergic reaction (air passages swelled shut). Had another who screwed up his bulk Y-hcl dose. His sister called me from the ER "John can't breath on his own, do you know what he's been taking"?

Trust me, you DON'T want to be taking that phone call anytime soon...

This might surprise some, but in the context of BP I believe things like BIU (far too adaptogenic) and Greens (too much positive nitrogen) take away from phase one.

Make fresh juice, eat lightly cooked cabbage. Steam a little rice and veggies. Take a multi-life, drink a gallon of water...

It's a few days, do it strict and do it right and you will be rewarded greatly.

Sounds good.. I was going with the minimal approach.

..so during this I can basically eat mixed nuts until the cows come home? I have done a decent amount of keto type stuff to get lean and I love nuts (strong homo)

Bigla

just watch the calories and the protein, i personally would skip the nuts because they are a domino food for me. 1 leads to many

Rule for me on famine is protein under 30 gms and calories under 1500

Not too many nuts now. They're high in fat so the calories add up...

Focus on fruits, vegetables, leafy greens etc and then add a small amount of mixed nuts.

Hope that helps!
